.:: Tributes: Toch ::.
On July 21, 1997, a dear friend to those on the undernet IRC channels #nativetalk, #nativevoices, #numuukahni (and many others) passed on to the Spirit World. Toch, of the Comanche Tribe, will be missed by all of us and this page is set up as a memorial to him.

A mortal was chosen by the Creator. His time among us is at end. His words will never more be heard or seen. But wait... Is it not a Warriors duty to teach. Has he not given us lessons to learn. Talking with him, I learned much. In his words I felt great strength and yet gentleness. The strength of a Warrior, the gentleness of a son with his mother. When I look at his image, the eyes show Great Love for his Creator, his people, family and friends. This is a mortal that is not lost. His Spirit will shine bright in GrandFathers world. We will hear his footsteps thru the drum as he dances in the most Sacred of all Circles, as we hear the Heartbeat of GrandMother.
I was never in his presence, yet I feel him strongly. And one day I will meet with him in the Spirit world and I will be Honored to say, 'Aho, Totaswe, My Brother.'

Cold and Dry winds blow across the plains,
A sudden feeling of loss that can't explain.
Voices calling from all around,
The only one I hear is from the ground.
Warrior's from the past are gathering near,
Another Commanche heading home it is clear.
Mounting upon the horse that he will ride,
Now bidding my farewell's my goodbye.
My friend, my brother and most all,
The warrior from whom I learned I must stand tall.
Drumming the songs for those who pass,
I hear the songs of old in the tall prairie grass.
And so now my brother as you must go,
I wish to thank you for helping me grow.
Looking up I see tracks in the puffy sky,
In honor of you my friend do I cry.
And let it be said so all may see,
Bob Mannah - First, Last - Always Commanche
